Phi Mu Fraternity to Host First All-Atlanta Founders' Day Celebration
Publish Date : 1/17/2007 5:29:00 PM   Source : Europe News Onlypunjab.com

The Metro Atlanta Alumnae chapters of Phi Mu Fraternity announced today that they are organizing the first ever all-Atlanta Founders' Day memorial and celebration on March 3, 2007.

"Atlanta has grown and expanded enormously in the last few years. Where there was once one alumnae chapter, there are now five," explained organizer Ashlee Forscher. "This will be the first time we have a network of alumnae working together for this event. And, of course, we are sharing this time with the three collegiate Phi Mu chapters in Atlanta as well."

According to Phi Mu headquarters, there are almost 10, 000 Phi Mu members in the state of Georgia, with about 4,000 in the Metro Atlanta region.

"Members of Phi Mu come from all walks of life, all ethnic and religious groups, all parts of the country," continued Forscher. "But when they join Phi Mu, they become part of one common heritage and one history that gives them the common ground of sisters, of a family. That is what we celebrate in March - the common thread that makes unity possible in such a disparate and diverse group of women."

Date: March 3, 2007
Time: 11:00 AM
Location:    Emory University Conference Center Hotel, Lullwater Ballroom
1615 Clifton Road
Atlanta, GA 30329
Reservations: $30.00 per person

Space is limited; RSVPs must be received by February 21, 2007 or until venue capacity is reached, whichever is first.

Activities include a meet and greet with the area chapters, shopping at the fraternity store, the Carnation Collection, a special memorial ceremony, lunch, and featured guest speaker Susan Logan, Operations Director of Phi Mu Foundation - the philanthropic arm of the fraternity.

Phi Mu Fraternity was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. It is the second oldest women's secret society in the United States. Originally called the Philomathean Society, it existed solely at Wesleyan for more than 50 years before becoming the national fraternity Phi Mu in 1904.
