Santa Gets Help From Over-qualified Miami Elves
Publish Date : 12/10/2007 3:42:00 AM   Source : Culture and Community News Onlypunjab.com

The dreaded words "Some Assembly Required" can bring out the worst in all of us, especially at Christmas. Thursday, Dec. 13 from 2-4:15 p.m., more than 225 employees of the auditing firm Ernst & Young of Miami, FL, will exercise this painstaking task--building a child's bicycle -- in the name of corporate unity and charity.

The Leader's Institute's Build-A-Bike Team Building Workshop® is designed to demonstrate the opposite of the adage "The end justifies the means." According to the Society for Human Resource Management, only 15% of an employee's career success is the result of expertise, and 85% is the result of interpersonal skills.

The invitation-only event will be held at James L. Knight International Center, located at 400 SE Second Ave. Miami, FL.

Thirty-two teams of Ernst & Young employees will work together to solve puzzles, decipher codes and unlock secrets to acquire the resources necessary to build a bicycle for a needy child. The laughter and surprise will only increase throughout the half-day event when starry-eyed children from Big Brothers Big Sisters crash through the doors unannounced to retrieve their brand new bikes.

"Build-A-Bike ® is a fun and challenging team building program with a philanthropic twist that is really making a lot of kids very happy this Christmas," said Leader's Institute CEO Doug Staneart of Fort Worth, Texas. Since 2004, nearly 3,000 bikes have been donated to children through Build-A-Bike ®.

"In a budget conscious world, corporations can't afford to waste time or money on training programs that don't produce results. This is why many Fortune 500 companies educate their workforces using games, simulations and other interactive methods that teach critical principals in a real-time problem-solving exercise," he added.

Each Build-A-Bike ® program is customized so clients can employ their minds and bodies to learn the benefits of creating a synergistic work environment. The Leader's Institute has regional offices throughout the U.S.
