"People come back from holidays after spending time with their families, and start feeling increasingly lonely. They go to Internet and join a dating agency."

The first week of 2006 showed 39% increase in sales compared to the average week, which was reached without using any special offers or discounts. With New Year specials, the Russian marriage agency expects to double the weekly revenue during the first week of 2007.

"People love specials. When we offer specials, we give much more and we sell much more, too. It's win-win", said Petrova. "This time we are using a different model, where the user only receives the special offer during the checkout, when he already selected the service he wants to purchase. We expect this to work better than simply offering discount prices."
