A representative for the 35-year-old actress and Schaech said the couple's split was mutual, while court documents this week showed the 37-year-old actor cited irreconcilable differences as the cause for divorce proceedings, People magazine reported Friday.

Court papers show the couple had few problems splitting up their mutual assets with Applegate retaining both the couple's Los Angeles homes and a car.

The couple, who married in 2001, officially began divorce proceedings back in December 2005 when they mutually agreed to split up.
